Making Summer Memories

Summer is almost here and even though I can't stand 100 degree weather it's a special time of year for me and my husband.

We get to have our grandchildren Isabel,Sophie,Jackson and Audrey come and spend two whole weeks with us. Not all four together...Two weeks with Isabel and Sophie and then two weeks with Jackson and Audrey.

My grandchildren are growing up so fast and their Nanny and the Poppinator have already missed so much of what they are doing cause we live eight hours away.

When grandparents live far from their grandchildren I am a strong believer that grandchildren should come and visit.

NOTHING is more important than spending time with love ones. So what if the child has to miss a few ball games, birthday parties, summer camp, or their friends and so on.

My daughters Vanessa and Shannon will always consult with me on the best time for the children to visit, then they make their other plans for the children. Whether it be before or after the two week visit.

My grandchildren and I may not do much while they are here and where is it written anyways that you have to entertain them with a trip to Sea World. Just being with them is such a heartfelt feeling for me.

There will come a time when they will be too busy...like having to work...which is the only excuse I will accept.

The parents of all grandchildren should encourage their children to spend time with their grandparents. After all we are not getting any younger and our health may be failing a little bit, plus as they say our time on Eath is limited.

When Isabel, Sophie, Jackson and Little Miss Audrey come to visit, that is memory making time for all of us.

I have but a few memories of going to my grandparents and spending the night with them. My grandparents just lived a few miles from me.

You might not think it is important right now but when the children get older, they Will want to recall favorite memories of grandma and grandpa when they are gone.

I treasure my two weeks of summer time visit from my grandchildren like it was a rare jewel that I had found.
